Veterinarians

Dr. Craig Johnson

Dr. Craig Johnson

Dr. Craig Johnson grew up in Eau Claire, graduated from UWEC in 1991, and from UW-Madison Veterinary School in 1995. After practicing for five years in Alaska, he returned to his hometown. He assumed ownership of Eau Claire Animal Hospital in 2004.

Dr. Johnson lives on a hobby farm in Elk Mound with his wife Kristin, two boys Jake (6), Alex (3), a Pug "Norman," 3 cats, plus many farm animals. He enjoys family time, gardening, camping, and fishing.

Dr. Cynthia Mather

Dr. Cynthia Mather

Dr. Cynthia Mather graduated from Iowa State University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science degree and in 1989 with a degree in Veterinary Medicine. She practiced for five years in Wheaton, Illinois before moving to Wisconsin in 1993. She did relief work at the Westgate and Northside Animal Hospitals for a short period of time before joining the staff here full-time in 1994.

Dr. Mather is married to Steven Abraham and has an only son, Ethan. She enjoys singing and playing French horn in her church praise team, teaching Sunday school, and spending free time with her family. Hobbies include gardening, biking, sewing and reading.

Dr. Jodi Bohl

Dr. Jodi Bohl

Dr. Jodi Bohl graduated from UW-Madison in 1992. She concentrates mainly on dogs and cats with special interest in feline medicine and behavior and alternative medicine.

Dr. Bohl lives in rural Elk Mound with her husband Todd and sons Brandon and Ryan. They enjoy camping and family activities.

Dr. William 'Doc' Rogers

Dr. William "Doc" Rogers

A native of Chippewa Falls, Dr. Rogers graduated from Chi High in 1948. His college education was interrupted by the Korean War and four years in the Navy as an Electronics Technician. Six years at the University of Minnesota followed with a DVM degree with honors in 1959. Upon graduation he entered practice in Chippewa Falls. In 1961 he established a practice in Eau Claire. In 2003, Eau Claire Animal Hospital was sold.

Currently Dr. Rogers is semi-retired performing surgery at Eau Claire Animal Hospital three days a week. He and his wife, Linda Marie, have five children and four grandchildren. His spare time is spent hunting, fishing, and gardening.

Certified Veterinary Technicians

Heather, CVT

Heather began working at the Eau Claire Animal Hospital in 1988. She left briefly when she moved to Phoenix, Arizona for two years where she worked with a variety of exotic animals. Heather received her veterinary technician certification from MATC in 1994.

A lover of the outdoors, she enjoys riding her motorcycle, camping and spending time with her husband and three children. Heather has a small zoo at her house consisting of a Mastiff, Wolfhound, two cats, two horses, and two tanks of fish.

Heather loves the diversity of her job, from puppies and kittens to geriatrics.

Kari, CVT

A Minnesota girl through and through, Kari was born and raised in Hibbing. She attended the Hibbing Community College, Duluth Business University, and Medical Institute of Minnesota where she earned her degree as a Certified Veterinary Technician.

Kari has a cabin in Northern Minnesota where she helps her family maintain a large tree farm. She enjoys fishing, target practice, four wheeling, snowmobiling, figure skating and showing classic cars with her dad.

She recently got a new yellow lab named Tracker. Kari and her husband, Brian, have been married for 10 years.

Gwen, CVT

Raised on a six hundred acre, beef and hog farm in Independence, Gwen is the youngest child with 2 older brothers. She earned her certification for veterinary technician through Argosy University in 2004.

When not at work, Gwen helps out on the farm with piling bales, feeding cattle, sorting calves, and growing gourds and painted pumpkins that are sold to local grocery stores in Eau Claire and La Crosse.

In her spare time she enjoys shopping and spending time with her family and friends.

Veterinary/Technician Assistants

Janine

Janine has been working at the Eau Claire Animal Hospital for 4 years. She started as an animal caregiver and quickly moved into her current position as a veterinary technician assistant. She absolutely loves her job and the animals we care for. Due to this love, she enrolled at Argosy University to pursue her certification as a veterinary technician. She will graduate in December 2008.

Janine has 2 cats, Delia and Percie and a dog, Reagan, who keep her very busy. She was recently married in September.

Katie

Born and raised in Fall Creek, Katie now lives in Eau Claire with her husband, Scott and 1 year old son, James. She is a junior at UWEC majoring in Women's Studies and attending Argosy University in the veterinary technician program. She will graduate in the spring of 2008. Katie began working as an animal caregiver/veterinary technician assistant with us in April 2004.

When not studying or attending classes, she enjoys family time that also includes her 2 dogs and 2 cats. When she really wants to relax, she heads up to Ely, Minnesota to the family cabin.

Client Services Staff

Kathy

Kathy, a 17 year veteran with the ECAH, works full-time. She enjoys the many interesting pets and all the different types of care available for animals, her fun co-workers, and of course, the owners.

In her spare time away from work, Kathy loves going "up to the cabin." She has three grandchildren that keep her busy. When she returns to work we love to hear the stories of their unpredictable happenings together.

Kathy has an 9 year old bloodhound named Emmit and a 3 year old Shih Tzu mix named Whitigger. Emmit is featured on our canine neuter surgery brochure. He is a very fun dog- you just gotta' love his H-O-W-L.

Patti

Patti has been employed full-time since 1998. She is our green thumb due to her love of gardening. She also enjoys decorating, crafts, painting, shopping, and watching dirt track racing. The time she spends with her friends and family members is especially important to her.

Patti has 2 dogs: Max a 6 year old cocker spaniel and Louis a 2 year old Shih Tzu and a 3 year old cat named Charlie.

Patti lists helping owners with their questions and knowing them and their pets by name as the best part of her job. Look for her friendly smile at your next visit.

Rebecca

Rebecca joined our team in January of 2006. She brought with her a passion for animals. She has a particular fascination with the workings of their minds-cognition, consciousness, emotion, and natural behaviors and inclinations.

She has 6 pets, all of which she has rescued with the exception of Eric the Betta fish. Her dogs include a Brittany spaniel mix named Scooter and a Lhasa Apso mix named Parker Alfred Edgar Sparkles. She has 3 cats; Jasmine, Nefertiti, and Purrsephone.

Rebecca enjoys the outdoors/nature, hiking, biking, fiddling in the garden, books and reading. When her daughter is able to join her in the activities, she enjoys them even more!
She loves it when she is able to help an owner get the care and support they need for their pet-whether they are just starting out or are addressing senior pet issues. She has a soft spot for geriatric critters.

Rebecca looks forward to building a history with our wonderful clients and pets.

Sue

Sue has worked at ECAH for 7 years. She works part-time performing receptionist and pet care duties. She has three small dogs: Corky, a mini-dachshund mix, Paco, a pug, and Ina a corgi; Buzz a 1year old cat; 4 rabbits: Arlo, Black, Magpie, and Pewter; and 2 birds: a Sun Conure, Magee and a green cheeked Conure, Cedric.

Sue is nuts about animals and loves reading, and learning more about them. She is especially happy when she can help a client with a problem or question regarding the care or behavior of their pet. She has been married to Don for 33 years and has two children.

Support Staff

Jayne, practice manager

A native of Eau Claire, Jayne has worked in the veterinary field for 17 years, first as a receptionist then practice manager. She recently completed her degree in Supervisory Management at CVTC.

In her spare time, Jayne enjoys reading, traveling, boating on the Mississippi River, and working with stained glass. Her husband, two children, and two dogs keep her very busy with their love of outdoor activities.

Jayne is very pleased with pet owners who desire to learn more about their pets' care, from treatment options to preventive medicine.

Groomer

Judy

Of all our great employees, Judy has been here the longest with 18 years. She is the first one here most mornings to perform receptionist duties until her groom pets arrive for their new hairdos. She likes the variety of her job because every day is different. Judy has seen a number of pets from their first exam until passing on.

Away from work, Judy enjoys the outdoors, fishing, reading, listening to music, and her grandchildren. The best place to be, if not at work, is up at the cabin with her husband Glenn where they are able to watch the birds, deer, and other wildlife.

Judy has a chocolate lab, Deacon and a cat, Saturn. The cat believes the whole house is her playground. Judy recently added a new dog, Spuds, an energetic Jack Russell terrier, to her family. He is quite a change from the laid back disposition of her lab.

Pet Care Staff

Jenna

Jenna has worked at ECAH for about one year. She has two Labradors named Morgan Ann and Maci Jo, both are two years old. Jenna enjoys the outdoors, hunting, shopping and spending time with family and friends.

Jim

Jim has only been at ECAH since June of 2007 but wishes he had applied sooner. He is currently enrolled at UWEC trying to finish his Geography degree. He has made his home in South Dakota, Oregon, International Falls, Minnesota and Stevens Point but has gravitated back home to Eau Claire where he and his 5 year old, German shorthair mix, Wilmur hope to stay.

When not working or at school, Jim loves to spend time with his girlfriend, Hilary and her son, Chris, watch or read anything about the sport of hockey and every now and again he picks a little banjo.
